The goal of the seminar will be to equip you with your own copyright toolbox: by walking through examples, you’ll learn when copyright can arise, the full scope of your rights and ways to monetize them, the default regime on who owns the copyright, and the relevance of moral rights. By grounding abstract concepts in real-world situations, you will be better equipped to ensure you understand the do’s and don’ts of copyright and be able to successfully navigate the world of copyright as a muralist in Canada.\nChristie Bates is a copyright and trademark lawyer with Cassels, Brock and Blackwell LLP. With both a litigation and solicitor side practice, her day-to-day involves the licensing, protection, enforcement and acquisition of IP. She is an executive of the Toronto Intellectual Property Group, the IP contributor for Canada’s Risk Management Building Information Modeling (CanBIM) Think Tank, and is a Board Member of one of Canada’s oldest music organizations.
